Lithobates catesbeianus
Beautiful frog with black spots. Found with several similar looking tadpoles in metamorphosis. The frog was about 6 inches long.
A conservation center in a wooded rural area.
Hi Kathryn and Jamie! This is not an edible frog, which is a European species and has very visible ridges a long the side of its back (this information is actually all there in the reference provided by Jamie). On a side note, the current scientific name for the edible frog is Pelophylax esculentus.
I am sure other users will soon come up with an appropriate suggestion.
