Small black flies mating on a patch of windblown moss (Dicranum scoparium). They have a cream-colored patch on the either the proximal end of each wing, or on the body beneath that part of the wing. Each fly is under 1 cm long.


Seen on the edge of a mixed deciduous forest fragment.
