Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake

Crotalus adamanteus

Habitat:

Upland Pine

Notes:

Spotted this snake while hiking off trail with a buddy. Nearly stepped right on top of it because it didn't rattle at all. This behavior, in addition to its brilliant skin leads me to assume it recently came out of molt.
