Rhipidura leucophrys picata
The ubiquitous Willie Wagtail is "the largest, and most well-known, of the Australian fantails. The plumage is black above with a white belly. The Willie Wagtail can be distinguished from other similar-sized black and white birds by its black throat and white eyebrows and whisker marks. The name wagtail stems from the constant sideways wagging of the tail." (Birdlife Australia: http://www.birdlife.org.au/bird-profile/... )
Floating around in this tree that was on the edge of the garden at Goombaragin on the Dampier Peninsula. It's the same tree the Northern Fantail (Rhipidura rufiventris) was in the day before and at the same time/same day as the Broad-billed Flycatcher (Myiagra ruficollis mimikae).
I absolutely love these little birds. They are constantly chattering with the tails spread out into a beautiful fan of feathers. They are also quite happy to show off their offspring to you.

Thank you Neil! The evil eye hey...I think I've always looked at it as more of a frown or disapproving look :D
Awesome spotting, Liana. Yes, these are favourites, and I particularly like them because they have that sinister eyebrow. Have you eye noticed them giving the evil eye? They do it!
Absolutely :)
Another classic Aussie.
