Common Silverline

Spindasis vulcanus

Description:

It is found all over the island and is the commonest Spindasis. Their numbers peak during the south-west and north-east monsoons. It inhabits scrub land with sparse vegetation, hedge rows, scrub jungles and secondary forest.

open area

Notes:

A butterfly that is truly difficult to disturb when nectaring on flowers but are able to fly fast erratically. Even when disturbed it returns back to the exact spot moment later. Mainly found near their host palts.
