Description:

The beetles are 20 - 31 mm big. They are black and dull shiny. The head is broad, but distinctly narrower than pronotum and elytra.

Habitat:

Found in a very urban area. The very widespread throughout Europe. They live almost exclusively in human settlements and there, especially in dark areas in cellars, stables, barns or magazines. In the wild they are found in the buildings of various mammals.
