Social Spider

Stegodyphus sarasinorum

Description:

Stegodyphus is a genus of spiders in the family Eresidae. These are social spiders and many spiders together build a big web which sometimes covers a bush or even a lamp post in some parts of India. They even feed communally. You can see the spider with a prey in this spotting. The second pic shows the typical web of the social spiders, although they can get much bigger than this.

Habitat:

Seen at a small forest near a river.
