Approximately 2.5 cm or 1 inch long.
The site (http://www.ig-consulting.co.jp/inoue_cor...). Is for serten the same kind of wasp bayucca.
Wasp might be very variable concerning the size, extension of the bands. Look at this one, where you clearly can see this red spots:http://www.town.assabu.lg.jp/modules/aut...Other ones:http://www.ffpri.affrc.go.jp/labs/seibut...http://wiki.pestinfo.org/wiki/Polistes_r...http://tskk.exblog.jp/10681751/Can't really read this, but it should be Rothneyi:http://www.ig-consulting.co.jp/inoue_cor...For comparison:Polites yokohamae: Look at the colors of the legs, does not match exactly:http://insectahk.com/hymenoptera/Poliste...
I think its a paper wasp bayucca. But the scientific name must be different. Because this one has two red spots on its abdomen.
Need to be verified!! I am not so into wasps ;-)...http://gaga.biodiv.tw/new23/9311/k55.htm...http://www.museum.osakafu-u.ac.jp/html/e...http://www.flickr.com/photos/66086774@N0...
