Chelydra serpentina
This is unfortunately pretty common, particularly when females are looking for locations to bury their eggs.
This turtle had been hit by car. We had seen other snapping turtles along this road before and they were very chippy!
Welcome to Project Noah. This is a Common Snapping Turtle, Chelydra serpentina. Can you tell us more about this spotting? Usually snapping turtles are very feisty when on land.
That's quite a crack in that shell. Was this animal alive?
