Coopers Hawk (Immature)

Accipiter Cooperii

Description:

14-20" (36-51 cm). W. 28" (71 cm). A crow-sized hawk, with long tail and short rounded wings. Immature brown above, whitish below with fine streaks. Eyes of immature are yellow, but this ones eyes are a bright red. The tails tip is rounded, not squared off.

Habitat:

Deciduous and, less often, coniferous forests, especially those interrupted by meadows or clearings. May hunt near bird feeders in residential areas.

Notes:

This guy stayed in the same tree for 3 hours, why? I have no idea, probably just trying to escape the heat.
