Description:

Large, brown butterfly with a large yellow spot on the wing tips. There is a white band on each wing. The front edge of the wings is blue with a couple red bands. Habitat:

Chaparral. Landing only on Oaks. Found only in the extreme western US states. "Mostly mountain and canyon terrain. Associated with Oaks (Quercus species, which are the larval food plants."
