Chlosyne nycteis
Wingspan approximately 3 cm. Yellow-orange with black markings and white crescents along the wing margins. Note the row of white spots ringed with black on the hindwings. The antennae are striped black and white with orange tips on the antennae clubs.
Mixed deciduous woods.
Thank you, bayucca. I see your point.
I mistakenly assumed that the orange on the antenna clubs was distinctive to the P. cocyta.
Nymphalidae, Nymphalinae, Melitaeini, so smae as Phyciodes. But looking at the markings, I only know 1 species with these white spots on the hindwing: Chlosyne nycteis. Please, check yourself. What do you think?
