Nyctanassa violacea
High Breeding adults with head plumes. The crown appears yellower during breeding.
These birds have been nesting in this location for several years..there are 15-20 nests. They are constructed in Australian pines, often pretty close together...hanging right over a path where where people walk & bike. Hardly anyone notices them!! Located next to the Gulf of Mexico at a public beach called Coquina Beach.Manatee County Florida
