Salvia x 'Indigo Spires

Description:

Salvia x 'Indigo Spires' is 1 1/2- to 3-foot-tall perennial that has dark green, ovate leaves of a medium texture. 'Indigo Spires' salvia bears foot-long spikes of purplish-blue flowers that rise above the foliage during the spring, summer, and fall seasons.

Habitat:

Garden in wildlife habitat yard.

Notes:

Salvia 'Indigo Spires' is a hybrid cross between S. longispicata and S. farinacea. It was a chance discovery at Huntington Botanical Gardens, found growing near the two presumed parents, S. longispicata and S. farinacea. Introduced into horticulture in 1979, and has become a very popular bedding plant.
