Bumblebee

bombus pratorum

Description:

The first Bumblebee I have seen this year! It flew right past me, landed at my feet let me take one photo and then flew off...it must have known about project Noah and wanted to become famous ha! these small bumblebees or even sometimes known as 'early bumblebees' usually appear between March and July but I think due to the estended cold winter we have had that they have delayed their appearance.

Habitat:

seen on the path near to the local infant school.

Notes:

Identified as bombus pratorum due to the small size and red band on its rump which unfortunately can't be seen on the photo.
