Purple darkling beetle

Chalcopteroides sp.

Description:

Approximately 20mm long; raised curved shape; distinct purple tint over the whole body; fine black legs and antennae.

Habitat:

At night attracted by lights to back yard bungalow window.

Notes:

There are many options in the genus Chalcopteroides. Most are recurved shiny black with metallic tints depending upon light source and direction. Usually under the bark of eucalyptus.
