Lesser Siren

Siren intermedia

Description:

An aquatic salamander that only has front legs. The body is long and slender like an eel, and the gills are feathery and red. They are incredibly slippery which is why all of the pictures are of him still in the water, you couldn't hold him out of the water for more than a second! He was released after pictures in the bucket.

Habitat:

Found in swampy waters in the southeastern US.
