House Finch

Carpodacus mexicanus

Description:

House Finches are really (really) common birds in North America. They can develope a disease called "House Finch Eye Disease". I think what it does is pretty self evident but I'll tell you anyway. It makes their eyes crusty & can eventually lead to death. House Finches are not picky about where they build their nests. In this picture they are nesting on a porch light.

Habitat:

backyard
