Jumping Spider (Female)

Notes:

A Plexippus sp. adult female feeding on a juvenile of its own kind ... showing a classic example of "Cannibalism " ...a pretty unusual one though ! There are numerous records of females devouring the male counterparts and quite a few theories explaining their behavior as well ... but hardly any explaining this particular behavior. Whats interesting to note here is that the juvenile was pounced upon by the adult female while she was moulting .... indicating that it was an opportunistic attempt than a premeditated one .
