Palestine yellow scorpion

Leiurus quinquestriatus

Description:

The Palestine Yellow Scorpion is about 4 inches in size for the females and the males are about 3 inches. They may both be slightly smaller though depending on the location where they are found. This is a young scorpion, 3 cm in length. You will find that the coloration of the Scorpions depend on where they live. The goal is for them to be able to blend into their surroundings and to be as undetected as possible. This is a type of mechanism that has been part of Scorpion evolution for thousands of years. Legs and tail are yellowish , body somewhat darker. The yellow scorpion is regarded as a highly dangerous species because its venom is a powerful mixture of neurotoxins, with a low lethal dose. While a sting from this scorpion is extraordinarily painful, it normally would not kill an otherwise healthy adult human. However, young children, the elderly, or infirm (such as those with a heart condition or those who are allergic) would be at much greater risk.

Habitat:

L. quinquestriatus can be found in desert and scrubland habitats ranging from North Africa through to the Middle East.

Notes:

found in my house in wadi beeda

Eek! This is one species that I'm glad I haven't spotted yet. :-) Especially glad not in my house.
