Crotalus oreganus helleri
I have never seen such distinct black and white markings on a rattle snake's head before!
Look at the distinct black and white markings on this baby rattle snake's head and body! Thank you to a wonderful Noah friend for helping me identify it: http://www.crotalus.ch/gallery37.php?spr... Found in the Rainbow/Fallbrook area on coastal maintain trail. San Diego County, CA
Thank you so much, S Frazier and KarenL. I am just getting used to the format and doing this all via my phone. When I get time on my desktop, I will follow your directives. Most appreciated!
Hi Terry, please consider adding this to the Snakes of the United States mission http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1202...
Hello Terry. It seems like you agree with my species suggestion. If so please also use the suggested scientific name in the scientific name field. You can even place the link I provided in the reference link space (last of 3 spaces) if you want. With the common name, scientific name and a reference link all filled in, the spotting is considered identified. Cheers
Thank you to Noah for sending me this link: http://www.crotalus.ch/gallery37.php?spr...
So I figure it does look like a Southern Pacific Rattlesnake. I am new to this forum but am hooked! It is perfect for nature-nerds like me. :)
