Opalescent nudibranch

Hermissenda crassicornis

Description:

The species grows to be about 50 mm, or about 2 inches. The color of this nudibranch varies from one locality to another, but it is always easily recognizable by the orange stripe along its back. This spotting was about 1" long.

Habitat:

Native to rocky shores of the eastern pacific from Alaska to Mexico. This spotting was on a wall at a depth of 50 feet in Rainy Bay, Barkley Sound, BC
