Two-tailed Pasha

Charaxes jasius

Description:

Also known as Foxy emperor, this is a fast-flying butterfly from Nymphalidae family. About 7 - 8 cm in wingspan, uppersides of wings are orange with brown margins - unfortunately, I did not get a chance for a clear shot... Undersides are reddish brown with numerous blue bands with gray contour; the also have a large orange margins, spotted blue, and preceded by a white line. On hindwings, there are two short tails.

Habitat:

Seen on banks of Zambezi river, in a well wooded, and lush-green, area on Namibian side.

Thanks Tukup - and yes - got two spottings of this species, over 60 clear pics in total... but no way to snap one with wings open...

Almost impossible to get them to open up isn't it. Still a striking butterfly. Thanks Zlatan.
