Based upon recently obtained data, I can now confidently place this larva in the genus Euryphura, seemingly either E. plautilla or E. chalcis, both being reported for Lagos and having unknown early stages. Dotun, thus a scientific first!
While this caterpillar is certainly in the subtribe Bebearina . . .

. . . the possibilities remain, despite rigorous checking, far too numerous to say which genus. Thus, the only supportable ID for now is Nymphalidae: Limenitidinae: incertae generis.
Hello "Dotun55", I study the immature stages and hostplants of African butterflies in order to better understand their scientific placement. Would you please contact me at BFLYEARLYSTAGES@COMCAST.NET regarding this caterpillar. Thanks!
OK
May be one of the Euphaedra butterflies (foresters)?
