Thanks for your nice comments, everyone! ximena1 - yes, it was snowing. These birds live in places where snow is common in winter but in the state where this bird lives, snow is not so common and I have a feeling they are not too happy about it. It's great that Project Noah has featured a "common" bird as an SOTD. I love all the SOTDs of exotic and unusual wildlife but it's such a nice reminder that we can find beauty and enjoyment in the wildlife we see around us everyday, too. Thanks again for the choice as SOTD and for your kind words, everybody! :)

Congratulations Maria! A brown thrasher braves the snow in our Spotting of the Day! Thrashers are accomplished mimics, often imitating the songs of other birds. Some thrashers have a repertoire of more than 1,000 different calls!
