Pantherophis guttatus
near pinelands, hardwood hammocks, swamps, agricultural fields, and residential areas.
One of the most beautiful snakes, I think. This was a large one ( I know the excitement of seeing it can make your mind exaggerate the size without proper measurement) however I would be surpriced if it was less than 4ft. and I think closer to 5. I had only seen this snake in captivity in artificial surroundings before this spotting. You tend to think the bright colors are not very good for camouflage until you see it slithering through the orange and brown leaf litter of sea grape. I was right next to it and I would loose sight of it from time to time until it would move again.
