Canis latrans

A coyote visitor this morning! This was a smaller individual, so I initially mistook it for one of our resident foxes. We very rarely see (much less hear) the coyotes that live around here. They're elusive and very fearful of humans. Glad I was able to get this one on camera.

This one was checking out the fox den. Hoping they don't give them any trouble this spring. (The foxes have moved their pups to new den sites in previous years due to coyotes coming through the area.) Coyotes can and sometimes do prey on foxes.
