Chestnut-backed Chickadee

Poecile rufescens

Description:

Very small passerine bird. Large brown cap, wide white cheek stripe, dark throat. Back is chestnut color with grey belly. Wings and tail are a greyish brown. Will either be found alone or grouped with Bushtits moving from brush to brush.

Habitat:

Mix woods, shrubs and can also be found in cities.

Notes:

Startled this one on a trail. It jump up on a branch right next to me and was curious about the sound my camera was making. I believe that might be dog hair he's got since this is a well traveled dog walking trail or even fox that has been spotted in the area.

Yeah they are. I usually don't take pictures of them much since I have so many now. But just couldn't pass this one up it was so close and the dog hair was funny.
