Eudocima sp.
I picked up this caterpillar on my clothes at a waterhole in the middle of Mbuluzi Game Reserve, Swaziland
thanks bayucca for the family ID. All those links will have to wait for a while I'm afraid as the internet here is S-L-O-W, and my priority at the moment is to get the spottings up.
Erebidae, Calpinae, Ophiderini. Must be an Eudocima sp., Fruit Piercing Moth. A global pest, there are 8 species found in South Africa, but no info about the caterpillars. The links are from all over the world and only for illustrating the genus, not the species.
