Gum-leaf Skeletoniser - female

Uraba lugens

Description:

A grey moth with jagged black lines on wings. Each wing also showed a dark spot. The thorax had a distinct upside-down"T" shaped black line. Lateral shots showed a blunt "face" with very short up-curved labial palps. Moth would have been about 15 mm long.

Habitat:

Spotted under bright lights near sports field.

That would have been great to see the female come out - they are tidy moths, I think. I was lucky to see both sexes in the same place but never thought they were U.lugens.

Nice spotting.
I bred some out last season and watched a female emerging from pupa.
