Texas Horned Lizard

Phrynosoma cornutum

Description:

This was the biggest and darkest horned lizard I have ever seen. Tan with dark brown blotches and a light vertebral stripe. There are two rows of fringe scales on the side.

Habitat:

Found in the road in thorn scrub habitat.
