Buteo jamaicensis
I haven't been sure how many hawks I was seeing in the area, but on this particular morning I was treated to seeing two on telephone poles within eyesight of one another and cleared that mystery up nicely! I have been seeing at least two hawks at various times in the last few months. I suspect that this is a breeding pair (as they tolerate one another in the same territory), but I'm not sure which is male and which is female - they are very close in size as far as I can tell. (Here is the RTH I call "Honey Badger" http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/231... the other half of this pair.) I don't have anything I call this bird (yet) but I'm pretty sure it's the one I always think has a sour attitude.
Spotted on a power pole next to a mining operation in Kennesaw, GA.
