I had a small wishlist in my head of some plants and animals that I wanted to see in Colombia. Well it didn't disappoint and I was able to cross quite a few off the list, especially the arthropods and fungi. I wanted to see a tortoise beetle since learning about them on Noah a long time ago. I was super excited to see my first one but even better, I saw a lot more of them here and different species elsewhere. More than I could have hoped for. These were fairly common around the campsite at Chicaque natural park. I put this one on my camping towel for contrast but it didn't like to stay still for very long.

Lovely spotting! I checked Deloyala and was unable to find anything similar:

Gorgeous beetle!
Thanks Cindy.
Congrats on your tortoise beetle, Dan!
I've found an ID for this, at least to the genus. This guy spotted it at the exact same place.
