This birds call is a very lovely flowing twitter, they are only a small member of the finch family but unmistakeable with their bright yellow wing patches and a face that looks like it has been dipped in red paint. They breed and winter in the UK.

Thats very kind of you to say Stian, shame there were so many little branches in the way as I would have liked to get more of its lovely red face! I agree Maria, as this is when you can usually see the full range of their colours.
