Black Turban Snails

Chlorostoma funebralis

Description:

The shells are black when wet, purplish-blue-black when dry, with an orange and silver tip. The snails are velvety black on top with pale undersides.

Habitat:

Rocky intertidal zone.

Notes:

Hermit crabs often occupy empty shells.
