Spotted Wintergreen

Chimaphila maculata

Description:

A small, unobtrusive little plant with waxy green leaves and strong white veins. Apparently forms a symbiotic relationship with soil fungi, so difficult to transplant or start from seed.

Habitat:

Dry pine woods near driveway embankment

Notes:

Three small plant clusters. Will have to come back and see if I can spot it while blooming.
