Description:

This southern Illinois native perennial can frequenty be found in "colonies" that, when blooming, are a sight to behold. An umbrel of 6-30 flowers dangles downward from a stalk that rises approximately 18 inches from a basal rosette. The resulting effect resembles a group of shooting stars, hence the name.

Habitat:

Woodland understory plant.

Notes:

Color can range from white to pink.
