Powdered Dancer

Argia moesta

Description:

Powdered Dancers are small, blue, damselflies. The dark stripe on the top of the thorax is straight and narrow, and the shoulder strip is unforked and quite narrow except for a wide spot towards the back. Some females look like males, but others are tan where the males are blue. The male is a dark-colored damselfly that develops extensive pruinosity as it matures. (Pruinosity is a waxy, light-colored substance that builds up on a damselfly's body, obscuring whatever coloration lies beneath.

Habitat:

Wildlife habitat yard near Belton Lake.
