long-legged fly

Description:

This is quite a tiny long-legged fly (Dolichopodidae: Sciapodinae), but wait it's got something in its mouth(parts), like a robber fly! Dolichopodid flies are mostly minute to small in size with bright metallic colors, mostly green or bronze.

Habitat:

Spotted in a large semi-urban yard & garden next to a disturbed patch of remnant forest in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
