Virgin Tiger Moth Caterpillar

Grammia virgo

Description:

Rusty red and black with long black hairs. Has a yellow stripe on abdomen. Coloring is a bit variable. About 1.25 inches long at the very least. Feeds on low plants including clover, lettuce and plantain.

Habitat:

Meadow with abundant weeds.

Notes:

Saw at least 5 of them. They are pretty moths. I can't wait. I am not sure what kind of plant it is on.
