Flamboyant

Delonix regia

Description:

May is the month that the Flamboyant Tree is blooming throughout Mexico. To pass through areas with many trees in bloom is breathtaking. This particular young tree was especially noticeable in the arid landscape of the mountains west of Oaxaca entering the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

It's Cairo where these trees line the streets, particularly Ma'adi, a suburb south of Cairo where I lived. But you wouldn't have seen them in bloom when you visited so maybe they just blended in. Keeping wishing good things for Egypt - we need some positive energy!

Hi Bernadette, Your towns must be gorgeous with these trees in the streets! I came to Egypt in 2009 in February. I didn't see these trees, but I wasn't on the Sinae. I LOVE Egypt and wish things weren't so hard for you now.

Love these trees! Very popular street trees here in Egypt.
