brown hawk owl

Ninox scutulata

Description:

Dark gray rounded head. Dark chocolate-brown back. Brown-white streaked underparts. White vent. Yellow toes.

Habitat:

Forested area in city park.

Notes:

I'm was extremely excited by this spotting, it's the first time I've seen an owl in my little swath of forest. Enough is enough, I need a longer lens. 300mm is not cutting it anymore.
