Veery

Catharus fuscescens

Description:

A small bird approximately 5-6". Brown back, white breast with speckling, speckled light brown upper chest. Slight pattern on lower wing. Hops. Short beak.

Habitat:

Backyard. First seen in the dead leaves in a slightly wooded area; it seemed to like the grass of the backyard where it was finding bugs.

Notes:

I had been sitting on the ground when I realized this little bird was behind me. It watched carefully but did not seem to be alarmed by my presence.
