Cratilla metallica
This dragonfly is recognized by its metallic blue thorax and dark blue abdomen and by its dark wing-tips. Its striking eyes are yellow (brown on top). Males are often seen perching on the same spot for a long time. This one made a very patient model.
Spotted on along a trail at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, which holds Singapore's last remnant patches of primary rainforest.
One of my favorite spottings from Bukit Timah as the last shot shows fellow Project Noah ranger Christiane in action. See http://rmbr.nus.edu.sg/dna/organisms/det...

I hope you do! I'll link to your spotting then.
I have to find the photo and post it too... ;)
Thank you Neil! Indeed the last shot shows what Project Noah is all about :-) Not often do you get such a a patient model though. But it's part of this guy's behaviour to keep coming back to same spot to perch.
A wonderful series, Daniele, and the dragonfly is beautiful. I love all the photos but last is definitely my favourite. Great DOF and colour, but the hand and camera gives it a sense of scale and shows a gentle engagement between humans and the natural world. Neil :-)
Thanks Satyen!
Nice series, especially the last shot :-)
