Western Tanager

Piranga ludoviciana

Wing bars on black wings, upper bar yellow. Male had red head

Common in coniferous forests. We saw this fellow on our feeder. This is the first Western Tanager we have seen on the feeders but have seen several in the mountains of New Mexico.
