Buteo jamaicensis
This is "Honey Badger," a RTH I often see hanging around in this area. I haven't been sure how many hawks I was seeing in the area, but on this particular morning I was treated to seeing two on telephone poles within eyesight of one another and cleared that mystery up nicely! I have been seeing at least two hawks at various times in the last few months. I can tell Honey Badger from the other hawk (see here http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/226...) because of that dark smudgy spot next to the left wing. I suspect that this is a breeding pair (as they tolerate one another in the same territory), but I'm not sure which is male and which is female - they are very close in size as far as I can tell.
Spotted on telephone pole #15 next to a mining operation in Kennesaw, GA.
