Trident Membracid

Alchisme tridentate

Description:

tiny turquoise horns, black stripe down the back, nymphs in the last 2 photos

Habitat:

cloudforest, 2200m

Notes:

There little hoppers in different stages of development were all over the underside of the leaves of a Brugmansia tree. I couldn't believe how many there were. They were feeding on something and didn't care how close I got.

Thanks J and Mona. I'm familiar with the photographer, we've spotted a lot of the same things in Colombia. You might be right with the variation as everything else looks the same.

The venation on the wings, seen best in my former comment, certainly looks different in color, as yours are greener, but that may just be a variation.
