Queen Protea

Protea magnifica

Habitat:

Fynbos.

Notes:

One of the sugarbush group of protea. Also known as Queen Sugarbush. Proteas are named after Proteus, the Greek sea god who had the power of prophecy and could assume various shapes. The name, therefore, refers to the flower heads' varied forms.
