Burrowing Wasp and prey

Sphex lucae

Description:

Black wasp with bright, red abdomen. It had just attacked a grasshopper and was holding on while the prey desperately tried to get away. The video shows the wasp move the grasshopper around, tuck the wings back, and them carry it away.

Coast Sage Scrub
