Description:

Upright, soft hairy annual to 36". Soft hairs give plant silvery grey appearance. Solitary stem, usually much branched in upper part. Flower to 1" in blue, lavender, white, rose, or pink.

Habitat:

A friends wildlife habitat garden. The cornflower is considered a beneficial weed, and its edible flower can be used to add colour to salads.

Notes:

In folklore, cornflowers were worn by young men in love; if the flower faded too quickly, it was taken as a sign that the man's love was not returned.
